Society Professional Journalists Name FIU Professor Outstanding Adviser Award

The Society of Professional Journalists has named Florida International University faculty member, Chris Delboni as the David L. Eshelman Outstanding Campus Adviser Award recipient. Delboni is a professor at FIU teaching news writing and multimedia courses, while also advising the student SPJ chapter.

The award, initiated in 1978, is presented annually to a person who has made an exceptional contribution to the campus chapter as an SPJ adviser. Students credited Delboni with guidance, mentorship and dedication. The FIU’s SPJ Chapter was founded in 2012 with the help of Delboni.

Delboni will be honored at the Excellence in Journalism Conference in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 4 to 6.
